    Gender invisibility and the best interests of the child in the administration of justice: analysis of the request for house arrest by Ana María Fernández

    This study looks at the application of house arrest in case law after the reform of Law No. 24,660 on the enforcement of deprivation of freedom in Argentina. This change increases the number of cases in which confinement is moderated, such as when pregnant women and/or mothers of children under the age of five are involved. This study analyses Ana María Fernández’s request for house arrest by interpreting the arguments made by judicial officers using three main tools: gender perspective, the best interests of the child and the hermeneutics of human rights.

    Iniciativas de presupuesto con perspectiva de género en Argentina. La trama detrás de la experiencia local

    Between 2015 and 2021, gender budgeting went from being a tool used by a pioneering municipality in gender policies to being part of Argentina’s federal government's plan of action and a policy in development for fourteen provinces. The national initiative, and the subnational experiences developed before and after it, are added to a concert of international voices that speak to us about the potential of incorporating the gender perspective into public accounts. Throughout this thesis, the plots behind this recent gender budgeting experience are surveyed under the developments both by international human rights law, academia, and comparative experiences.     Memory, human rights films and symbolic reparations : a case study on the new Argentine cinema

    The overall objective of this thesis is to analyse from a theoretical point of view, the potentiality of human rights films as an effective means of symbolic reparations. Since the late 1980s human rights films emerged as an independent strand in the field of cinema and became a powerful tool for the promotion of human rights. Human rights films influence the public opinion and encourage the participation in relevant debates for the society. Ultimately, human rights films represent a significant support for the construction of social memory which is a process vital to a well-functioning democracy. The thesis will draw on the specific context of Argentina and it will illustrate, through the analysis of two films, the relationship between social memory with a gender perspective and human rights films.

    Mi derecho a tener derechos. Políticas públicas de autonomía progresiva y egreso dirigidas a adolescentes bajo cuidados alternativos en Santa Fe

    In the Santa Fe province (Argentina), the population of adolescents under alternative care represents a significant group with respect to the total population of children and adolescents in these systems. In this context, the processes to build autonomy and its preparation for leaving the protection system constitutes an obligation of the State and a right of the adolescents. Studying the public policies designed and implemented for that purpose entails understanding the State’s action mechanisms, and, at the same time, it allows to place the problem in the wider framework of democratic systems. In this framework kiiiir, the objective of this work has been to analyze public policies oriented to progressive autonomy and preparation for discharge of adolescents in alternative care in the period 2015-2019 in the province of Santa Fe.
