This thesis analyzes the Impact of Lengthy Asylum Procedures on the Lives of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) in Ireland. It specifically seeks to explore the discrepancies between Section 39(5) of the International Protection Act of 2015 and the existence of lengthy asylum procedures in Ireland's lives of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. The research also examines to what extent the lengthy asylum procedures impact the lives of UASC in Ireland. The literature review I conducted showed that researchers had neglected my research topic as no research has been undertaken in this area before in Ireland. This study is essential as a long asylum process can affect the developmental potential of UASC, and the healthy development of children is vital to the future good of any society. Qualitative desk research and interview were utilized to obtain this research's findings. The result demonstrates that lengthy asylum procedures exist in Ireland, and UASC is more negatively affected than positively. Lastly, I suggest that my thesis's recommendation be considered to realize a shorter processing time for the asylum application.
