dc.description.abstract | This thesis looks at the human rights impacts of Israeli-administered industrial and residential settlements and the accompanying separation regime in the occupied West Bank. It looks at the status of the territories in international law and the corporate, governmental and institutional actors involved in the settlements and separation regime. It discusses how responsibility for human rights violations connected to these “occupation industries” can be assigned, and discuss the options for discharging this responsibility. The focus is on European corporate involvement in these industries. The European Union emerges as an actor to whom responsibility can be ascribed, and I consider how, if at all, this type of responsibility has been incorporated into the EU’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. | en_US |
